Microsoft announces $30 billion investment in AI infrastructure, operations in UK

- Microsoft is ramping up it’s AI investments in th U.K. as President Donald Trump embark on his state visit this week.

- The software company said it’s investing $30 billion in the U.K. between 2025 and 2028, including $15 billion in capital expenditures.

- On Wednesday, Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmar are expected to sign a new deal to collaborate on AI, quantum computing and nuclear technologies.

 

Retail sales show US consumer spending holds up, but almost everyone is looking for deals

Retail sales in August rose 0.6%, more than the 0.2% increase that was expected by Wall Street economists. In the key back-to-school shopping month, sales at electronics and appliance stores increased 0.3%.

US retail sales in August were stronger than expected. But resilient American shoppers are still looking for deals wherever they can find them, with a weakening labor market and tariff-related inflation fears still swirling.

 

Bessent: Trump’s push to scrap quarterly company reports will be a win for investors

- Trump had mooted moving to semiannual company reports to allow CEO’s to make better long-term decisions.

- Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move would cut costs for firms without harming investors.

- He also acknowledged that it could make the U.S a more attractive destination for foreign companies looking to go public.

 

Morgan Stanley $TSLA analyst Adam Jonas says he just bought a brand new 2026 Tesla Model Y over the weekend to replace his 2021 Model Y.

“The improvements is the car’s design, materials, finish, suspension/ride are very noticeable, as are the material improvements is FSD(v13.2.9) with HW4(vs, my prior MY with HW3 which I already though was great). But the biggest ‘upgrade’ for the car is hands down having Grok in the car with the long press of the microphone button on the wheel. I was already a Grok subscriber, but the in-car experience of X’s virtual assistant is on another level. The boys and I love Grok the most. I just want to be friends with this dude.”

Then up to 12 h\hours of back to back meetings across all Tesla departments, but particular focus on AI/Autopilot, Optimus production plans and vehicle production/delivery.
